Interview With Max Cavalera
It’s been a while since Brazilian brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera was playing on the same record and on the same stage. But in 2008 the guys are back in brotherhood creating new music in the new project CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. For metal fans alike you have followed these guys since the early days of Sepultura and to see them back in the same band and releasing music that is brutal, honest and more passionate then ever is a blessing.
I had a chance to sit with Max Cavalera before the bands set in Worcester, Ma and he was able to talk to me about how it is being back with his brother, the new Soulfly record and how the recording process was this time around.
HOW DIFFERENT IS IT WORKING WITH YOUR BROTHER VS. WORKING WITH OTHER ARTISTS?
It’s just easier like with other drummers I have to explain things and do out counts for them. So when Iggor and I play we just do it we know. We play at a speed where its our own speed and tempo so those are very unique things that I don’t find with anyone else. Even after the 10 years we got back together and everything is exactly the same. Musically it was the same we went right into it. The ten years didn’t matter musically the minute we worked together again it just clicked.
ON THE INFLIKTED CD PEOPLE HAD EXPECTATIONS ON HEARING THAT SEPULTURA SOUND. WHEN YOU DID WRITE THIS ALBUM WERE YOU LOOKING TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW?
We didn’t even think about the past. I just made the album as raw and natural as possible. I didn’t sit down and discuss what kind of vibe this album would have. People would say I like it because it’s raw and aggressive and it’s got a cool thrash vibe with a groove. I’m glad they like it like that but we didn’t try to do it like that it just happen to come out like that and I think its cooler and more natural. If we plan too much sometimes the result gets a little predictable.
AND IT IS A SHORTER ALBUM!
Yes! Definitely compared to Soulfly it is shorter. I was responsible for that I wanted a shorter album. I was trying to think in terms of like reign In Blood from Slayer. Shorter is better, less is more. Especially with a lot of fast songs so that was the idea, I was always telling them when they were writing to cut things down. They wanted to continue jamming and I’m like no it’s good like this. To me it was better for Soulfly it is better to be longer but I think with this band it could even be shorter.
JUST MAKES YOU HAVE TO MAKE ANOTHER ALBUM WITH THIS BAND.
Right!! I still want to make a shorter record. More crazy and its difficult cause the jams we had were really good like with BLACK ARK. It was hard because you don’t want to cut the whole part off because it is a really cool jam but at the same time I don’t want it to drag. So I had to find a balance. You can hear the album in 40 minutes so it’s great.
WAS THE RECORDING PROCESS EASIER?
I think recording with Iggor has always been similar. I enjoy it because he is a very creative drummer and he inspires the people in the room and you see everyone playing better because of him. I would say it was just as fun with the making of the album with Iggor.
YOU PRODUCED THIS ALBUM BUT GIVE FULL CREDIT TO LOGAN FOR ENGINEERING IT. WHY?
Well I think he is a very good engineer and somebody that captures the sound very well. He worked very hard on it. So I felt like I should really give him props for doing it and working hard. I don’t worry about self promotion. I don’t really care. I put it produced by me because those are the words you use but if I had another word I would use it because I am not a producer. Producer guys they drink coffee and stays in the studio and I don’t drink coffee and I don’t like the studios that much. But I produced the record because I kind of had a vision for it, so I did it but I have a very different vision then say like Rick Rubin, I have a very different way of working then him.
SO IS IT TRUE YOU GUYS ARE PLAYING THE WHOLE ALBUM ON THIS TOUR?
Yes, we did it mixed with some Sepultura and Nailbomb stuff. It makes it even more interesting. One of the ideas was to do the whole album the way the album is but I felt like it is stronger if you mix the songs with older songs. It comes out more powerful. In my head I wanted to do the whole album but when we tried it in Europe it didn’t translate that good. It was missing something so we ditched that idea and ended up mixing.
ALSO YOUR STEP SON RITCHIE SANG ON BLACK ARK BUT ALSO HIS BAND INCITE IS OUT ON THE ROAD WITH YOU. ARE YOU A MENTOR FOR HIM ON THE ROAD?
I don’t help him with much because I think he needs to suffer (laughing) No he needs to learn. I put him on the tour and he has thanked me so much for that but I like to see him struggle and I think he likes that. He has never asked me for help. The only thing he ever asked me was once to help him in the studio for a demo. So I went and helped him on the guitar sound but that is about it.
HOW IS IT HAVING YOUR BROTHER BACK BACKING YOU EVERY NIGHT?
It took a while to get use to because it’s been a long time but it’s great. We have fun, we talk between songs, we joke around and we get serious at times to make a kick ass set. It’s good it’s really good. I missed playing with him so I am very happy to have him back playing with me and he is also.
YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A NEW SOULFLY ALBUM?
Yes, it’s actually coming out the end of July.
WHAT WILL YOU DO ONCE THAT IS RELEASED?
Finishing this tour then we are playing with the Ozzfest in TX and then we go to Australia then that is a bout it with CONSPIRACY and then we will take this up next year. The rest will focus on Soulfly. Its natural we planned it like that.
NEW SOULFLY WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO IN IT?
I think its deeper it’s called CONQUER. It’s the same vibe as DARK AGES but I think it’s heavier and faster. So we took everything one step up. Which is surprising a lot of fans because a lot of them were like it can not get any heavier as DARK AGES but it can. It took a little work with the guys but it’s defiantly some cool stuff. There is a song with Dave from Throwdown sings on which is called UNLEASHED. So I am very excited for the record. It’s going to be good.
ANY LAST COMMENTS?

Interview With Throwdown Vocalist Dave Peters

THROWDOWN always destroys on record and in a live atmosphere. Their music & lyrics give you honesty and hope for the future. 1000 of hardcore fans can vouch to that and after having the pleasure of seeing them and most recently speaking with singer Dave Peters I agree whole heartily that this band has that kick ass, don’t take shit from anyone attitude. Their latest album blows away older discs and is showing the ever evolving progress this band is making. So like I said I had the pleasure of talking with Dave before there show in Worcester, MA. I found out what he thought of the comparison of them to Pantera, the world of THROWDOWN tattoos and his thoughts and how he views his hometown Orange County and the reality shows that portray it.
WHAT’S THE STATUS WITH A NEW THROWDOWN RECORD?
We aren’t writing yet but my guitar player and I have been writing some songs and exchanging stuff to each other but we haven’t decided when we are going to buckle down and go into the studio to do a new record. I am thinking probably early next year. We will probably spend the rest of this year going out and doing some international stuff. We really want to go to Asia and South East Asia and those places. Especially places we have never been like Russia.
WHEN YOU GUYS WRITE FOR NEW ALBUMS WHAT IS THE PROCESS THROWDOWN USES IF ANY?
We are not really like a Jam band. We usually go in as a group and we have our own ideas that we bring in with us. Like with VENOM our guitar player had some riffs and I would have something and he would be like yea I don’t know what to put here and I would help him in that aspect. Then once the whole album is written musically then I can start over and write again lyrically. I never write lyrics, I always have ideas of subject matter and things that effect me on a daily basis and I usually don’t have to write them down because its something that is effecting me that I won’t forget. But I never write lyrics without having songs first. I might start some vocal patterns and establish what kinds of words belong where, what kind of vowel sounds and then it evolves from there.
I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF FANS OUT THERE WITH THROWDOWN TATTOOS AND YOUR WORDS WRITTEN ON THEM. SINCE FANS REALLY TAKE YOUR LYRICS TO HEART HOW MUCH FOCUS IS PUT ON YOUR LYRICS WHEN IT’S TIME TO WRITE?
Lyrics for me is just like when I was growing up being a fan of music. Granted these days’ people rarely even buy CDS anymore, although I can’t blame them but I was always excited to get the real CD with the artwork and the lyrics on them…That is what really shaped who I am today. It’s very important to me with the lyrics. Personally I think music and lyrics go neck and neck. I have played guitar a lot longer then I have been a singer and writing lyrics. So just for getting something out whether it’s through a guitar riff or content of our lyrics is really important to me personally. It’s flattering for me to those tattoos and what we have done for the kids who get them. Without naming names there is a lot of bands in every genre that just shoot from the hip and will really write whatever they think will, what I call making it sticky, its for the kids to say that is cool its not a reflection of who the band is. I don’t even try to avoid that I just write lyrics with a bit more substance. But again those tattoos mean the world. It means they took the time and thought about what we are saying through the songs.
DO YOU HAVE ANY BAND TATTOOS OF YOUR OWN?
I don’t actually. I just have my arms, it looks like I have a lot of tattoos but I just really have my arms and my wife’s name on the back of my leg. So I don’t really have a ton of stuff. I don’t even have and I hate saying this but I don’t even have the bands name on me anywhere. I am going to get it. My good friend that I hang out with all the time just started up tattooing and is really talented so I am fortunate enough to go watch TV at his house and get tattooed.
DO YOU GUYS SET GOALS WITH EACH NEW RECORD?
We really never set out to do any one particular thing for a record. People change over time and like I said we experience different things to shape you. Each record is a reflection of occurred in our lives in the past couple of years. Maybe something that has been deeply rooted that we never written through before or what not. But we never try to apply any expectations on our records. We just really want to get in there and do really what is natural for us at the time. So whatever comes out that is what people get, so they are going to love it or hate it. All we can do is be honest at the end of the day with ourselves and our music.
SO I KNOW THE NEW ALBUM YOU HAVE BEEN BOMBARDED WITH THIS SOUNDS LIKE PANTERA!!! IT DOES SOUND LIKE IT BUT DO YOU THINK THE FOCUS ON THAT TOOK AWAY FROM WHAT YOU GUYS DID AS A BAND? OR DO YOU NOW CARE?(laughing)
Well,Ummm to be honest I don’t care (laughing) Pantera as much as Sepultura and Slayer and Metallica, Machine Head and a million other bands are the bands that got me excited about music which initially got me involved with the heavy music. Those bands were always important to me and I think that with VENOM AND TEARS we were returning to our roots in a way and it was like hey we didn’t write any solos on this one cause we didn’t want to make someone mad but I mean like I said this album it was more of us being honest and writing what we wanted to. It’s hard to make a generalization of what people overall think about the record. A lot of people wrote us and say they were so blown away over the evolution of this album vs. the last album and they look forward to the next one cause of that. NOW, that is what we really looking for. If we are looking for anything that would be it because we put a lot of hard work into what we do. But I have no qualms with being compared to Pantera at all. I think in my opinion they were the best metal band ever. Obviously they are going to influence us. Its like any bands though you take what you know and love and you project yourself into that and you have what you write. I’m not too worried about it.
WELL I WAS LISTENING TO HAYMAKER AND THERE IS A LOT OF SEPULTURA COMING OUT OF THAT AND WHEN YOU READ REVIEWS THAT ISNT MENTIONED AS MUCH AS THIS LAST ALBUM WAS ALL ABOUT THE PANTERA THING
Yea, what is funny too is on HAYMAKER it has a sepulture thing cause our former guitar player was writing a lot at the time. So that album has that more thrash metal sound like Slayer and no one picks that out at all. Then the newest record where we got everyone saying Pantera this and that meanwhile no one noticed that we ripped off a Nailbomb riff. While we were driving we had the play list on random and heard the Nailbomb song and was like holy shit that is already recorded. Oh well it’s too late now (laughing) people choose to focus on what they want, it’s cool
BESIDES MEMBER CHANGES THROUGH THE FORMATION OF THROWDOWN THE NAME HAS BEEN OUT THERE FOR 11 YEARS NOW. YOU HAVE GAINED RESPECT FROM THE MUSIC WORLD, WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE WHAT DO YOU WANT TO WALK AWAY AND TAKE WITH YOU FROM ALL OF THIS?
I could walk away tomorrow and be satisfied. I mean I am on your with the Cavalera brothers right now. I sang a song with them (a Sepultura song) at Download festival. I have had the time of my life. I have the opportunity to do what I always wanted to do for a living which is kind of the whole goal for people. So yea I couldn’t really ask for anything more. Anything from this point on is just amazing. We are just happy to be playing and touring and seeing the world for free. But we never take it for granted, like when I am in New Zealand I’m never like oh yea I am here whatever (laughing) I take it all in.
IS THIS WHAT YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO DO?
I never had that thing where I wanted to be an Astronaut, I never had those things. I sort of was forced into playing piano and I did that for a while and then I was like I want a guitar. So my dad made the regretful decision to get me a guitar. I just started a band with Ken (Eighteen Visions) I’ve known him since I was 2. We just started playing in bands and then started doing shows and then touring. So I just sort of fell into playing but I love every second of it. I’m glad I learned how to play guitar, but now a lot of bands have keyboard players but I don’t see myself playing keyboards.
YOU COULD ROCK OUT THE KEYTAR?
I would play that!! I would wear the piano necktie!!!
YOUR TOURING WITH THE CAVALERA BROTHERS NOW CAN YOU SEE A BROTHERHOOD FORMING WITHIN THIS TOUR OR IS IT TO EARLY TO SEE
Its funny with tours that are this short sometimes it comes to the last week where you start to really know everyone. The first few days it’s like a shit storm trying to get everything together. I have known Greg from Dillinger for a little while I will see him in Cali. So I knew him already and I know the Bury Your Dead guys but I just met the other Dillinger guys yesterday and they are so cool they are the kind of guys that you feel like you have known forever. We have toured with Soulfly before so I have hung with Max and that was a mind blowing experience. It’s cool to be out with them. Even talking to Mark who is in the Conspiracy band and also Soulfly I just said to him its crazy to be on tour with Max and Iggor and he was like How do you think I feel I play guitar and I look back and I’m like what am I doing here (laughing) But its cool and I hope everyone on the tour is cool and everyone gets along.
NOW I HAVE SOME QUICK FUN TOURING QUESTIONS FOR YOU. HOW DO YOU KEEP TOURING FUN WHEN YOU’RE IN A VAN WITH ALL YOUR GUYS
You mean how do I keep from killing them all? (Laughing) I think that is how most people would answer that question. Oh gosh I don’t know.
DO YOU ALL PUT ON YOUR HEADPHONE AND ZONE EACH OTHER OUT?
There is a lot of that (laughing) To keep your sanity like say if your driving through the dessert and your van is overheating so you have to put the heat on to keep it from cracking your engine block, you got to keep your sanity somehow and we just let go and lose your mind. Mark our guitar player is a decent freestyle rapper so we will put on some kind of backbeat like an old Wu Tang record and turn up the bass and let him flow and that keeps us all sane. I try to catch it on video but he is like Yeti, once he sees you he clamps down. Otherwise an I pod with a movie on it is a must.
HOW DOES TOURING CHANGE YOU ON A PERSONAL LEVEL?
It’s funny I have people tell me all the time how they can’t stand someone at work. I’m like you see them for maybe 8 or 6 hours a day and I often have to sleep in the same bed with people I work with. There is a whole level of intimacy in the workplace you have to acclimate to and I don’t know but that changes you! (laughing) you have to learn to be a tolerant person cause everyone has there own ways of doing things and you want to try to bring with you your own personal space and your own personal life so you can be a normal human being but at the same time there is only so much you can do when there is 6 or 7 other dudes in a van or even a bus. You got to create a headspace for yourself.
5 MINUTES BEFORE A SET WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
Honestly I kind of go on auto pilot before we go onstage so I’ll be singing along to songs that are kind of in my range when I’m warming up and then I’ll think about anything at that moment that I would walking down the street. Like I want to get a burrito and sometimes I’ll do that during like one of the guitar solos. If I’m really hungry and they will be playing and ill be like I’m going to get a Jim’s Philly cheese steak (laughing) or thinking about the cheese steak I had before the set and how it’s effecting me at the moment. Yea its really just stupid irrelevant stuff if I think about more then that then ill psyche myself out and my voice will squeak and it would suck.
FUNNIEST STAGE MOMENT?
It didn’t happen to me but our old bass player Matt, we played Ozzfest and we were onstage and he jumped really high and it looked awesome but when he landed he ripped his pants from asshole to belt buckle and he had no underwear on and so his shit was in the wind. I didn’t realize what happen until 3 minutes after because he was back behind his rig and I was like what the fuck where the hell is matt? So we had friends in Every Time I Die and Bleeding Through behind the rig and they were like just keep playing. So we went into another song and Jordan from ETID took duck tape and made him a duck tape diaper. So he played in that and I didn’t even know what happen and walked up to him and was like what happen? And he was like Dude I don’t even want to talk about it. That was a classic moment for me. Especially since over 1000 people were watching us.
FONDEST FESTIVAL SHOW?
We played download in 2006 in the UK and it was the first time we ever played it. Before we went on there is this massive stage you play on and I was on one side with mark and we look out into the crowd there is people throwing water bottles, huge water bottle war and then there was this chant starting from like 5,000 people and we were trying to figure out what they were saying and they were actually saying our name which was much to our surprise because we were like why the fuck are they cheering for us? The set was insane especially for Download cause people come from all over the world. From Europe, Japan and it was awesome to look out and see the flags of there countries and us playing songs that got everyone excited about. It was a challenge to create a dialog with the crowd and keep it personal and that is the challenge when you actually achieve that and it happen that day so it was awesome.
YOU GUYS ARE FROM ORANGE COUNTY AND ALL THESE REALITY SHOWS COMING FROM YOUR HOMETOWN. IS IT REALLY LIKE THIS?
NO!!! (Laughing) I mean every county, town, city has there fair share of idiots and those are the ones that make these TV shows. So there happens to be more in Orange County then anywhere. It makes it to be like its all about tanning salons, bleached tips, assholes and unfortunately for us its not the case. Its funny cause there is a lot of culture in Orange County. There is tons of especially in music there is a lot of rock music everything from Bad Religion, black flag, Offspring, No Doubt then you have a whole other slew of bands like our band and Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through and Thrice there is so many different bands that come out of there. There are also so many really talented artists from graphic artists to painters. Then the skateboarders there are just so much that comes out of the OC and unfortunately what is shown is pointless. We use to get together and watch the OC and it was so funny. Again there is a lot of money coming out of the OC and that is where the focus is but there is also a massive middle class as well and there is a lot more going on that I would rather watch (laughing)
ANY FAMOUS LAST WORDS?
Thanks for any of our fans who come out on this tour. Thanks for interviewing me.

Interview With Throw The Fight
Minneapolis is bringing you true talent in the rock scene with the guys in THROW THE FIGHT. Indulge yourself with this summers hot CD IN PURSUIT OF TOMMORROW. A CD filled with crisp, dynamic melodic rock sounds that keep you off balance, charged up and purely satisfied. This band molds all the attributes of a good rock band with plenty of melody, lots of powerful energy and solid songwriting. This is a record that has no reason to hit the skip button. I had a chance to throw out to the guys some questions and I got the answers of some of the ideas behind songs, being a struggling band and what the guys have in store for tour plans this year.
BACK IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE BAND’S CAREER WHAT WAS ONE INCIDENT THAT MADE YOU BELIEVE THIS BAND COULD GO ON TO DO BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS?
We’ve always believed that none of this is going to happen overnight, so we’ve always tried to set a series of goals and work our way towards them. We’re not sure that we could say that there was a single defining moment. It’s always been about starting small and working our way up.
Everything from building a strong local and regional fan base, touring on our own, playing the Warped Tour, seeing our albums in stores, etc.
WHAT WERE YOUR DREAMS BEFORE BEING A MUSICIAN IF ANY?
This has always been something that we wanted to make a career out of since we were teenagers. We all went to college and have degrees to fall back on, but this in priority number one right now.
WHEN VOTED TOP 10 UNSIGNED BAND BY ALTERNATIVE PRESS BACK IN 2006, HOW DID THAT CHANGE THE BAND IN A PERSONAL LEVEL OR AS SONGWRITERS?
It definitely gave us more confidence as a band and it let us know that we were on the right track with everything. Our fans were the ones that voted us in and gave us that opportunity so we are very thankful for that.
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH CORDLESS RECORDINGS AND WHAT YOU HOPE TO GET BEING WITH THEM?
We’ve been working with Cordless for the last couple of years and they have helped us open doors and get exposure that we normally wouldn’t have been able to get on our own. It’s great to find a label that believes in what we are trying to do just as much as we do. We just hope to keep expanding as a band and growing on a national level with them.
JAMES CLARK YOUR SINGER IS FROM BRITAIN HOW DID THE CULTURE DIFFERENCE EFFECT IF ANY THE BAND? AND WHAT MADE HIM THE MISSING INGREDIENT?
James has been living in the U.S. for over 10 years, so other than his accent we didn’t really notice a big cultural difference. It was great to finally find someone who fit the sound that we were going for.
WHEN YOU AUDITIONED HIM THE WRECKAGE WAS A SONG THAT CAME OUT OF THAT. DID YOU FOCUS THE REST OF THE ALBUM AROUND THAT SONG OR DID YOU HAVE STUFF ALREADY BEFORE THAT SONG HAPPENED?
When James came into the band, the whole album was already finished. So it was just a matter of taking a couple months to rewrite all the vocals and melodies, then getting back into the studio to bang out the rest of the record.
DO YOU BELIEVE AN ALBUM SHOULD HAVE A BROAD SPECTRUM OF MUSICAL ELEMENT? AND DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR ALBUM DOES THAT AND WHY?
We believe that an album should reflect a certain point in the lives of the band both musically and lyrically. We try to strike a balance between heavy riffs with good grooves, but also have melodic vocals and catchy choruses. The new record has a lot of heavy stuff and some not-so-heavy stuff. So there is definitely a balance. On the next record we will hope to expand on the sound even further.
ON YOUR DISC LYRICALLY WHAT SONG DO YOU BELIEVE HAS THE BEST MESSAGE AND WHY?
‘The Wreckage’ is cool because of the way the lyrics paint a picture and tell a story. But as far as the overall message, ‘Stop Yourself’ has a good message about the friend that everyone might know that is on a downward spiral and into really self destructive behavior. As much as
you try to help them out, they usually need to want to help themselves first.
WHAT SONG DO YOU FEEL BRINGS RAW ENERGY TO A LIVE SHOW AND WHY?
‘His Blood, My Hands’ is definitely a favorite live. The riffage is really fun to play.
WHAT SONG WAS THE HARDEST TO LAY DOWN IN THE STUDIO?
‘It’s For You’ was difficult because we wrote 90% of the song in the studio. It was the one track that was the least finished when we decided to put it on the record. It’s probably the simplest song on the album, but it’s very different from the other songs. It’s by far the popiest song on the record. We purposely tried to step out of the box and make sure that song was different from everything else the CD had to offer.
YOU’VE PLAYED WITH A LOT OF DIFFERENT BANDS, DO YOU LIKE DIVERSITY IN A TOUR AND WHY?
Yes and no. It’s important to make sure that all the bands fit the type of bill. But you don’t want every group on the tour to sound exactly the same so that nobody stands out, either.
WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING CROWD TO WIN OVER ON A SPECIFIC TOUR?
Warped Tour was a challenge because there are so many bands playing at the same time as you. But it was one of the coolest things that we’ve gotten to do at this point. We always go out and play every show like we have something to prove. If we aren’t giving it our all, then what’s the point?
HAVE YOU EVER “THROWN A FIGHT”? AND WHY PICK THAT HAS A BAND NAME?
Even though a lot of people see the band name as having a negative connotation, it’s actually a reminder for us to not have things get in the way of what you are trying to accomplish. If you have a goal, see it through till the end and don’t let anything get in the way of it.
WHAT ARE THE BAND’S SUMMER TOURING PLANS?
We will be hitting the road with Drowning Pool in July for a few weeks. After that, a month of touring down south will follow.
IF YOU COULD GIVE ADVICE TO EACH OF YOUR BAND MEMBERS BEFORE EVERY START OF A TOUR, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Bring enough clean socks and underwear.
WHAT IS HIS BLOOD, MY HANDS ABOUT? (ONE OF MY FAVORITES)
In a nutshell, you find out that your girlfriend is cheating and you want to kill her and the other guy. It’s something that most people can relate to themselves or know of someone that has had that happen to them.
3 OUT OF 5 OF YOUR MEMBERS DOES SOME KIND OF SINGING, HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT OTHERS BESIDES CLARK GETTING IN FRONT TO DO A SONG?
Honestly, we haven’t at this point. But it’s something that we would consider doing on the next record. It’s always important to keep expanding your sound and stepping out of the box. That would definitely be something for us to try in the future.
IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY MUSICIAN PAST OR PRESENT WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHAT KIND OF SONG WOULD COME OUT OF IT?
Adam Dutkiewicz and John Feldman would be at the top of our list. We’re all big fans of Killswitch Engage and Goldfinger. Plus, both of those guys have produced some of our favorite albums.
THE BIGGEST FEAR BEING A NEW BAND?
We’ve been around for 5 and a half years, so we wouldn’t really consider us a new band. But as far as trying to break into the national scene, that is something that is new for us. Right now we are still working our day jobs on top of the band and it’s looking like we will be needing to quit to tour full time around August. Knowing that it might be hard to pay the bills for a while is a little scary. But it’s something that we’ve been setting ourselves up to do since we started and we can’t turn back now.
THE MOST EXCITING FEELING ABOUT BEING A NEW BAND?
It’s always cool when someone who has never seen us before comes up to us after a show and lets us know that they dug our set. Traveling is one of the best things about being in a band and it’s always cool to see new places we’ve never been to before, too.
DEFINE THE EMOTION THAT RUNS THROUGH YOU AS YOU HEAR A CROWD SINGING YOUR SONG?
It’s awesome!
